About the Role
A great opportunity has arisen for a Configuration Officer to work on an exciting major project at BHP, the Rail Technology Programme (RTP). RTP is a transformational upgrade of WAIO’s train control and signalling system. RTP will deliver the words first heavy haul moving block signalling system. Moving block will allow trains and other rail-mounted vehicles to safely run much closer together, resulting in a substantial increase in the rail network’s capability along with a step-change improvement in safety.
We have an opportunity for a Configuration Officer as part of the Rail Technology Programme Project, based in Perth. Reporting to the RTP Specialist Configuration Management you will be responsible for maintaining project configuration baselines and administering the engineering change controls processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist the Specialist Configuration Management to setup Configuration Control Board (CCB) management and processes and perform the bi-weekly CCB as required
- Responsible for administration of CCB including meeting invitations, agenda, change / waiver certificates and meeting minutes.
- Responsible for determining if change requests are ready for disposition at the CCB and preparing the agenda for the CCB.
- Assisting the CCB chair to ensure orderly conduct of the meeting
- Responsible for change processing and status accounting services to the CCB including reporting on pending change requests and action items assigned in the CCB.
- Addressing questions / concerns raised from the project team regarding CCB processes or decision making.
- Interface with business level configuration control boards in the wider business and follow agreed escalation processes in line with the CCB terms of reference.
- Support the development and implementation of CM best practice across rail.
About You
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Knowledge of configuration management and systems
- Experience working in project or engineering design environment maintaining configuration baselines
- Experience in rail, marine or defence
- Knowledge of maintaining hardware, firmware and software configuration
- Ability to work within an integrated team and work effectively under pressure
- Experience in change management process and its relationship with configuration managements
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills
