About GEMCO

Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO), a South32 Company, is one of the world's largest manganese mining and concentrating operations located in the Northern Territory. The operation is accountable for over 20% of the worlds' manganese ore production. GEMCO controls and operates all aspects of mining, processing, logistics and shipping on Groote Eylandt.

About the role

This role is a 4:3 Roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Can also be offered as Residential on a full-time ongoing basis.

As the senior member of the contractor Management team at GEMCO you will coach and shape the culture of the team and GECMO business and act as a steward for the Contractor Management standard and procedures.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

• Coach the team and GEMCO stakeholders to have in-depth knowledge of the management of contractors with focus on safety management systems.
• Lead embedment of the Contractor Management System of Work across the operation.
• Positively influence the culture of the Contractor Management team.
• Lead collaborative relationships with the Leadership Team and other roles within the Contractor Management System of Work across the GEMCO operation and within South32.
• Owns the GEMCO training content for Contractor Management and ensures delivery of the training framework for Contractor Management System of Work.
• Implement improvement initiatives to streamline and leverage key opportunities in contractor management.

About you

You will have proven experience working in a similar role within the Mining or Heavy Industry and have a passion for driving continuous improvement.

• Proven experience working in a similar role within the Mining or heavy industry
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant degree, diploma, or trade such as commerce, supply management, safety management, or engineering is beneficial.
• Experienced in Contractor, HSE or Risk Management Systems.
• Proven track record of managing the delivery of change and roll out of business processes
• Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills for the purpose of engaging with internal and external stakeholders to influence key business outcomes.
