ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential on Groote Eylandt considered.

As the Contractor Management Specialist, you’ll require equal focus outward on contracting companies and inward on organisational governance within the contractor management system of work.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Facilitate embedment of the Contractor Management System of Work across the operation
• Positively influence the culture of the Contractor Management team
• Lead collaborative relationships with the Leadership Team, other General/Operational/Functional Managers, and roles within the Contractor Management System of Work across the operation or function and network within South32
• Implement improvement initiatives to streamline and leverage key opportunities in contractor management

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Previous experience in similar role managing compliance, standards, and processes across an operation in mining or related industry
• Excellent communication, influencing and persuasion skills. Able to challenge people, situations, and current thinking effectively and creatively
• Able to provide advice, develop options, analyse risks, make good judgements, and solve problems
• Experienced in HSE and Risk Management Systems (beneficial)
• Experience in vendor management, assessment and due diligence processes when selecting suppliers (beneficial)
• Ability to help design and roll out processes to improve effectiveness of a System of Work (beneficial)

Qualifications for this position are:

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant degree, diploma, or trade such as commerce, supply management, safety management, or engineering
