Contracts Specialist
Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday - Friday
This role is within the mobile equipment & marine category team, supporting the mobile equipment procurement and the operation of support contracts and the towage contract. It is an exciting time to be joining this team as we are decarbonising all mobile equipment both large and small.
The role lends itself to a confident, well spoken, and highly organised and efficient person with a strong sense of personal empowerment and drive to deliver a best for business outcome in everything they do.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Provide commercial and contractual support (“procurement support”) to the business and effectively deliver value for the nominated category through competitive sourcing and contract management (including KPI management and payment claim reviews)
- Foster collaborative supplier relationships for the mutual benefit of Fortescue and our contracting partners
- Review of scope requirements and using scope, risk assessment and program requirements to draft sourcing strategies
- Facilitate tender evaluation, negotiations, draft award recommendations and oversee due diligence and draft and negotiate contract terms and conditions, amendments, and contract management documents
- Contract life-cycle support for all contractual and commercial activities and develop Category Strategies and Sourcing Strategies
Qualifications and skills required:
- Experience in contract management and contract drafting in a mining environment preferably with mobile equipment or a marine environment
- SAP/Ariba and material strategy
- Strong skills in analysing tender submissions and making recommendations to award
- Effective written skills (e.g. drafting concise award recommendations, drafting contract conditions, drafting contract correspondence and variations)
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple work packages and interface with internal customers
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, business, commerce or supply chain-related fields
