About the Role
Our HV & Power Group are in search of a Contract Specialist to join their team. This is a permanent position based in Perth with flexible working arrangements for the right candidate. This position may require periodic travel to our Pilbara region.
Reporting to the Superintendent Power Station, the primary function of this role is to drive world class administration and management of contracts for Yarnima Power Station (with an emphasis on multiple Tier 1 Goods and Services contracts). Ensuring operations and maintenance activities associated with the entire network feeding the Pilbara region are in accordance with BHP business priorities.
In addition to this you will be responsible for:
- Provide contract management (incl. administration) support to Yarnima Power Station throughout the contract life cycle
- Support direct tendering, negotiation & implementation of complex and high value contracts and agreements of Yarnima Power Station and across WAIO Minerals Australia to reduce total cost to the business as required
- Guarantee compliance to BHP Contractor Management Framework, Procedures & Standards
- Application of sound commercial judgement around application of contractual terms and conditions to ensure the contractors performs their obligations under the contract
- Provide cost and cash flow forecast for internal reporting
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders to become a highly valued contract expert, trusted with commercial support, to lead negotiations with vendors and provide on-going contract management up to and including close-out
- Support drafting of high-quality tender and contract documents to minimize ambiguity, thereby reducing opportunities for claims
- Influence the selection of various project delivery models (e.g. EPC; EPCM and Owners Team Managed) for future contracts
- Ensures local government and federal government legislation is well understood and abided by
About You

Key requirements include:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar position with the ability to read and understand contracts
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications (Contracts//Finance/Project Management etc) is advantageous
- Excelling verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to influence with credibility, able to encourage buy-in and commitment at all levels
- Highly capable in building constructive long-term relationships
- Proven ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environments
- Exceptional computer literacy with the ability to use multiple systems
- Current WA C class driver’s license
