About the role:
Peabody are currently seeking a Control Room Operator to join our Centurion underground mine, Our Centurion mine is located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion visit (centurionmine.com.au)
Reporting to the, Under Manager the scope of your role will be to ensure that the appropriate supervision for the level of risk for activities is being applied Duties will include:
- Monitor the operational status and effectiveness of the mine environmental monitoring systems
- Periodically review changing trends of the monitoring system and in particular if they show signs of approaching or entering TARPS levels
- Be aware of the mine design and current activities, and in particular maintain an up to date knowledge of the current mine plan
- Ensure the gas chromatograph is operational and calibrated daily or as otherwise directed by the Mine Ventilation Officer
- Analyse gas bag samples on the gas chromatograph, record the results and notify the Shift Coordinator in the line with the Trigger Action Response Plan
- Track and monitor movement of personnel in accordance with Managers Scheme
- Communicate identified hazards to people likely to be adversely affected by the hazards and to those people with the skills to manage the hazards in accordance with the Safety and Health Management System, PHMPs, TARPS and in particular the Emergency Procedures
- Notify of any fault or failure of the environmental monitoring equipment or systems at the mine in accordance with TARP’s
- Assist with the management of injured persons requiring medical assistance in the defined area of the mine.
- Assist with the recording of accident, incident and hazard reports on a shift basis
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 9-day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

About you:
- 3 Years total underground mining experience of those at least 12 months development, and 12 months Longwall.
- Advanced First Aid
- Simtars GC training
- MEM’s training by QMRS
- Appointed by the Underground Mine Manager
- Experienced Control room operator from another operation
- Be able to follow systems and processes
In addition to the above, you will have a genuine commitment to safety and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk and hazard identification. You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible attitude and sound work ethic.
