ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of Control Room Specialist role is to safely execute production activities from the Central Control Room and monitor the Refinery Operations. The Control Room Specialist is accountable for managing the process parameters, collaborating and coordination with the Area Operational teams to achieve the safe daily production targets.

This role will report to the Refinery Coordinator within Worsley’s Technical team and is offered on a permanent basis. The role is offered on a continuous shift roster and will require periods of time as a Relief Control Room Specialist working 7-day worker roster. This role will collaborate with peers and colleagues to safely execute production tasks and undertake/implement improvement project work in order to enhance the performance of the Central Control Room and the Refinery Operations.

The Control Room Specialist will provide training and standardisation of performance across the shift teams (including Area Operations) and is supporting the Clarification Area (Area 2).  

Location: This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.  

As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.  


Key responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Management and coordination of day-to-day activities within the area of accountabilities to meet safe daily production targets
  • Provide technical troubleshooting to improve refinery performance against Key Value Drivers
  • Complete small area-based improvement projects
  • Develop, update and improve Control Room training material & provide training as required

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong Bayer knowledge and operational experience within and Alumina Refinery
  • Strong communication skills
  • Capability in analysing and interpreting complex data
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and work under pressure
  • Skilled in problem solving and fault finding
