Control System Engineer ( Power Systems)
Work Location:
Fortescue’s East Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Energy Operations is looking to expand the Electrical and Control systems engineering team, with an experienced Control Systems Engineer to assist with day-to-day and project support activities related to the Fortescue power generation and transmission systems. As Fortescue expands the reach of its power generation and transmission network, technical support from a remote based team is essential to ensure the reliability and security of the power system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day to day remote control room support from a control systems standpoint
- Assisting site technical staff with fault finding and troubleshooting
- Investigating faults and making improvements to automation systems for increased reliability and better performance
- Managing and supporting process data streams from source to corporate level
- Making changes to various automation controllers and HMI/SCADA systems
- Ability to assess risks and apply control to all work to mitigate unnecessary risks associated with both project and day to day activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
- The ability to function in a team of similar disciplined individuals and work with the greater Energy Operations department, offering support as required for operational activities and projects.
- Experience with automation and SCADA systems; an understanding of general automation systems, automation architectures and working principles.
- Experience with communication systems and protocols. Preferably DNP3 and IEC61850 as an extension to the expectation of prior use of legacy communication protocols.
- Experience with electrical systems, electrical engineering or power systems is preferable.
- The ability to present well, be punctual and work in a team of similar disciplined individuals.
- Willingness to learn new things and share knowledge.
