About the Role
Based at our Hay Point Coal Terminal on a Monday - Friday roster, this role offers a diverse range of opportunity and experience in Control Systems and associated Operational Technologies across our Port Facilities. Please note, this role does not offer FIFO so being a resident of Mackay and surrounding areas is a must.
Reporting to the Superintendent OT Site Operations Port, this Control Systems Engineering role provides specialist advice and executes tasks ensuring robust change control of Control Systems platforms to deliver availability, reliability and production improvements.
In this role you will:
- Execute control systems design (including PLC/SCADA coding and graphics) and commissioning for plant modifications and new equipment installations.
- Provide control systems support and technical assistance for breakdowns and production critical issues.
- Investigate and identify the root cause of downtime associated with control systems and developing/implementing solutions to prevent repeat events from occurring, eliminating defects, maximising Mean Time Between Failures and minimizing Mean Time to Recovery.
- Deliver initiatives to support continuous improvement focused on increasing safety, increasing reliability, increasing throughput, and reducing risk associated with Control Systems and associated Platforms.
- Govern and control accurate maintenance of the Control Systems Blue Print elements (including standards, specifications drawings, processes, systems and procedures) to reflect approved modifications and extending to the maintenance/development of Disaster Recovery & Service Continuity Plans.
- Perform software licence management and rationalisation works.
- Perform minor Control Systems/associated OT platform lifecycle management works.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with relevant Technology Function & Site/Asset Stakeholders and service/goods vendors.
- Provide control system engineering technical expertise to assist with Site/Asset and Functional managed projects that are associated with Control Systems.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Relevant Engineering or Information Technology Tertiary qualifications
- Current CPEng
- Functional Safety qualifications (e.g. TUV Certified Engineer)
- Demonstrated practical and hands-on approach in Coal Mine Site and/or Port Facilities
- Ideal experience encompasses bulk materials handling equipment, coal handling preparation plants, automated train unloading, stacking, reclaiming and ship loading operations.
- Experience with hardware and software for 3D Laser Scanning and GPS technologies as used in stockpile modelling, machine collision avoidance and protection applications will be highly desirable
- Configuration and programming of various PLC Platforms, preferably GE/Emerson, though Rockwell Allen Bradley, Modicon/Schneider, and/or Siemens experience will be highly regarded
- Configuration and programming of various SCADA, OPC, and Historian Platforms
- CitectSCADA, Kepware, OSI PI, Citrix, Virtual Computing platforms and environments.
- Configuration and programming of Fieldbus networks
- Preferably Profinet, though Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet will be highly regarded
- Configuration and programming of Pilz Safety PLCs, Variable Speed Drives, analogue and digital actuators and sensors.
- Demonstrable computing and networking skills, knowledge of computer programming, databases, and data analysis.
