About the Role
The Newman Ops Control Systems team is a dedicated team that supports the control systems used across Whaleback and Eastern Ridge. This role is responsible for providing effective and efficient support for production critical issues, governance on all proposed control systems changes, and implementing minor improvements. Your ability to lead by example, be proactive and prioritise safety will be critical to success.
Reporting to the Lead Control Systems Engineer, your duties will include:
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct, and relevant statutory obligations.
- Provide governance on all proposed control systems changes.
- Provide site based control systems support to breakdowns and production critical issues.
- Liaison with Production, Maintenance, Shuts and GTS stakeholders to propose control systems improvement initiatives, support the planning, design and execution of these initiatives.
- Investigate and identify the root causes of plant downtime related to process control, and the solutions required to prevent repeat events from occurring.
- Provide control systems technical and governance support to Engineering, Technology and Asset projects.
About You
A successful candidate should have:
- Strong HSE and risk management focus,
- Excellent communication, fault finding, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills,
- Have strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
- Previous demonstrated control systems experience in the mining / resources sector
- Experience in configuring and programming Rockwell PLC’s as well as configuring Citect SCADA
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Mechatronic or Control System Engineering or Trade qualifications in Electrical or Instrumentation discipline in equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
- Operational: Functional Safety (TUV) qualified
