Our Operations
Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.
It’s an exciting time to be at Olympic Dam, we are accessing 70% of the orebody that hasn’t been touched in the first 25 years of operation, in one of Australia’s largest mines within a complex mineral processing operation.

About the Role

Reporting to the shift Coordinator of Mine Control and Hoist Systems for Olympic Dam, you will join an inclusive and strong performance orientated culture, where you will make a difference each day to enable the safe movement of ore in underground fixed plant operations via SCADA system in the Mine Control Room located at Olympic Dam.
In this role, you will work closely with other departments to:
- Actively identify improvement opportunities for the safe and reliable operation of ore handling equipment.
- Loading and control of the underground train system via SCADA system in Mine Control Room for handling ore movements from ore passes to the crusher.
- Monitoring and recording of ore pass status and collation of ore movements.
- Monitoring and acting on SCADA based alarms to act on / notify others teams of events.
- Recording of downtime events.
- Assisting with mine emergency evacuation procedures.
- Identify and engage with other teams, to ensure maximum utilisation of time and resources.
In this full-time permanent role, you will have a range of options including residential based at Roxby Downs or FIFO from Adelaide. You will be working a 7 days on 7 days off rotational day / night shift roster.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Able to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret critical information and make decisions.
- Control room experience (desirable) (including the use of SCADA systems – Citect)
- Experience in underground ore handling operations (desirable)
- Experience in the use of Ampla (desirable)
- Effective communication skills to a variety of business levels.
- Strong organisational skills and time management skills.
- Ensure HSEC standards, hazard identification and management is applied.
- Possess a continuous improvement mind set to identify opportunities to improve the performance of safety, people, processes and systems.
- Build cross functional relationships with other areas to support the safe and productive delivery of ore.
- Enthusiastic to learn new skills and accept challenges.
- Willingness to obtain a blaster license (National police clearance certificate & ASIO security check are required)
