Reporting to the Transport Logistics Crew Leader, the Transport & Logistics Controller will play an important role in delivering quality Aluminium both ingot and billet for our domestic and international customers.

This role is a great opportunity for a safety focused, team player who wants to contribute to making the business even better. The role will require the successful applicant to spend a large portion of their time in the field.

Working as part of a small team you will be responsible but not limited to;

• Planning the safe execution in the preparation, loading and delivery of Aluminium to our customers.
• Nurturing a safety culture that delivers world class safety performance.
• Being able to work across output team boundaries to always deliver the best outcome for the smelter.
• Conducting required audits and inspections to a high standard, and for the purpose of reinforcing a strong HSE culture and systems.
• Ensuring targets are consistently delivered in a sustainable/ timely manner and with maximum customer satisfaction
• Work closely with our contracting partners

• The ability to work with upstream and downstream stakeholders and support teams
• Active participation in Toolbox and Safety Meeting sessions and ability to facilitate Toolbox meeting when Crew Leader is absent.
• A willingness to learn and enthusiasm to develop new skills as required
• Sound computer skills including the use of Metpro would be desirable.
• Forklift ticket highly regarded
• Manual c class drivers licence required

Where you’ll be working

Opened in 1982, Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 kilometres south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. 

Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.

Along with Yarwun Operations and Queensland Alumina Limited, BSL supports the local community in a wide range of initiatives through Here for Gladstone.
