About the Role
BHP continually invests in the development of its people including those working at the front-line of its mining operations. Building and maintaining comprehensive programs for Apprenticeships and Traineeships are key to our business as we continue to skill the workforce of the future. Reporting to the Superintendent Apprentice and Trainees, the Coordinator Apprenticeships will provide support to ensure the WAIO Apprentice Program is delivered successfully and all processes, procedures and systems adhere to legislative requirement.
The role will be offered on a 5/2 roster for those based residentially in Port Hedland. Other options including a 4/3 FIFO roster may be considered for the right candidate.
Your key deliverables include, but are not limited to:
- Providing mentoring and coaching to WAIO Apprentices from onboarding through to sign off;
- Engaging with Apprentices and leadership to provide support and enable training capability through program management and monitored journey progress;
- Coordinating and manage accuracy of Training contracts, rotations, secondments, training journals and TAFE call ups/results;
- Engaging with external Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to ensure records of completion are aligned to nationally recognized units of competency;
- Demonstrating a focus on continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the Apprentice Program is delivering the desired outcome;
- Supporting local community initiatives and represent the WAIO Apprentice Program at community events, engagement with local schools and vendors;
- Active participation, compliance and contribution to the effective operation of BHP’s relevant HSE policies and systems;
- Encouraging and leading productive collaboration across all peer groups and stakeholders through processes and routines.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Similar experience working with Apprentices/Trainees or in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector;
- Strong attention to detail or administration, HR or Training background preferred;
- Trade qualified preferred;
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise;
- A continuous improvement focus that identifies opportunities for improving processes, creating efficiencies and designing capability improvement;
- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong partnerships across a range of stakeholders both external and internal;
- Diversity of thought and practical experience will be embraced;
- Ability to work autonomously, but also value the importance of teamwork and being an active and supportive member.
