About the role
We are looking for a motivated Coordinator Blast to join and support our Drill & Blast Operation teams at our Mesa J site in Pannawonica. This role presents a great opportunity for an individual with a passion for leadership with well-developed communication skills to work within a dynamic open pit mining environment. You will undertake a range of support activities to assist the Supervisor’s and enable them to lead the team in a safe and efficient manner.
You’ll be part of a friendly team, supported by your supervisor to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work 8 days on, 6 days off, which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Supervisor Blast, you will:
- Conducting work area inspections and safety interactions with team members throughout shift to continuously improve safe workplace & behaviour
- Role model respectful behaviours and supports a culture built around our values of care, courage and curiosity
- Responsible for the preparation of the blast plan, ensuring compliance and accurate record keeping
- Support the supervisor in ensuring the safety of the team and comply with all critical standards and participate in the use of safety tools such as Take 5
- Undertaking acting duties when the supervisor is absent and liaising with other departments in a professional manner for best business outcomes
- Well informed, trained and very knowledgeable of mining standards practices and procedures in Western Australia
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
- Demonstrated experience in blast activities in an open pit environment
- Unrestricted manual C class drivers’ licence
- WA shot firer's licence is highly desirable
- DGSC – National dangerous goods security license
- Ability to operate MPU and small loader experience is preferred
- Exposure to safety systems within a large mining company
