We are looking for a Civil Utilities Water & Tailings Coordinator to help lead a team of operators to ensure safety, people and production targets are met. You will be a hands on leader leading a team of skilled tradespeople from a variety of backgrounds.

This role is a great opportunity for somebody who has a strong focus on people, safety and work management and is looking for that next step into a leadership role.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Tailings and Water and working a 4,5,5 day shift only roster at Northern Operations Weipa, you will be:

  • Providing visible leadership and driving the safety culture.
  • Leading by example, communicating effectively, and ensuring values of the business are adhered to.
  • Supporting the team to ensure safe and efficient operating/maintaining of the potable water supply, wastewater treatment, landfill, process supply infrastructure at the Weipa mining and Weipa town operations.
  • Supporting the team to ensure safe and efficient operating/ maintenance associated with Tailings and Water dam management
  • Operating and maintaining instrumentation including the sampling and testing of assets to ensure optimal operation of plants
  • Monitoring and interpreting operational and verification data including SCADA systems

What you will bring

  • A relevant trade qualification, such as Plumber or Water Fitter or skills and experience in this type of industry
  • Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater treatment and water supply distribution
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to interpret data on SCADA systems

This position is a residential role in Weipa. The successful applicant may be supported with relocation if coming from outside of Weipa and will go onto a housing waitlist for company housing. The shift pattern is 5 days, 4 off, 5 days, 5 off, 4 days, 5 off continued.

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
