About the role

We are looking for a Development Coordinator join our team at Yandicoogina to assist in leading a team of operators and to manage the load and haul operations to achieve safety, production, and quality targets. 

This role presents a great opportunity for an individual with strong leadership and well-developed communication skills to work within a dynamic open pit mining environment. You will undertake a range of support activities to assist the Supervisor’s and enable them to lead the team in a safe and efficient manner. You will actively promote safety awareness and safe work practices with the aim of driving consistent performance and innovation in relation to safety, cost, and production.

Reporting to the Superintendent Development, you will bring:

  • Significant experience working in a large scale, open pit mining environment 
  • Successful track record in working with large teams in a production or development mining operation 
  • Demonstrated level of experience in a Leading Hand, Coordinator or Supervisor capacity
  • Unrestricted manual 'C' Class Driver's licence 
  • Restricted or Unrestricted Quarry Manager's Ticket is highly desirable 
  • Exposure to mine planning systems 
  • Experience with development equipment such as Dozer’s and Grader’s.

Where you’ll be working

Located 95km north-west of Newman, Yandicoogina offers a range of fly in fly out rosters. As one of Australia's largest-producing iron ore mines; operating a fleet of autonomous trucks and drills, it generates more than 55 million tonnes of Hammersley Iron Yandi (HIY) fines each year.
