ABOUT IMC

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium-quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent full-time position based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

As the Coordinator Dust Services, you will be responsible for the monitoring and management of coal dust explosion suppression measures, ensuring that the statutory obligations for the mine are maintained in line with all relevant legislation.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Exercise the statutory function of ‘Roadway Dust Sampler’
• Coordinate and execute daily planning activities, including escalating non-conformances to legislative requirements
• Supporting the Mine by providing input on requirements based on underground experience, relevant standards and knowledge of coal dust explosion suppression
• Auditing and scheduling audits of roadway samples, incombustible content and other items to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and site standards

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Prior experience in a similar role within underground mining i.e. Dust Sampler
• General understanding of the work practices and standards in the Coal Mining Industry

Qualifications for this position are:

• NSW recognised course in the ‘Sampling and Testing of Roadway Dust’ (Desirable)
• Deputy Mining Supervisor Qualification (Desirable)
• Generic Underground Induction
• Valid C Class Driver’s Licence
