We are looking for an Electrical Services Coordinator who will play an important role in coordinating works for an experienced and talented team of Mechanical, Electrical, Linesperson, Refrigeration Technicians. The successful candidate will be supporting their teams in the planning and delivery of maintenance, of Power Generation, Electrical & Distribution equipment across the Weipa Operation.

This role is a great opportunity for a person with a strong capability in people management who can utilise their skills, demonstrated experience and attributes to contribute to the overall success of the Electrical Services department.

Working a Day Shift only Northern Operations Shift Roster Pattern, and reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer -  HV Electrical, Entity & Strategy, you will:

  • Coordinate works for a diverse team of Mechanical, Electrical, Linesperson and Refrigeration Technicians in achieving safety, environmental, and cost objectives.

  • Complete supervision and leadership based activities of the teams through hours outside of supervisors hours of operation.

  • Demonstrate an ability to manage complex issues and prioritisation of resources.

  • Taking a proactive approach to safety and where necessary participating in accident / incident investigations, hazard studies and safety issues

  • Recognise and manage site based maintenance priorities around operational risk

  • Management, coordination and approval for maintenance work execution around parts logistics and customer priorities

  • Coordination of contractor activities across the electrical services department operating in support of our departments objectives

  • Coordination and ownership of shutdown and outage management across our network.

What you will bring

  • Strong emphasis on safety, coupled with proven leadership and coordination capabilities.

  • Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

  • Proficiency in building relationships and fostering engagement, alongside adept problem-solving skills and a knack for innovative solutions.

  • Exceptional communication abilities across various platforms, with a talent for negotiating positive results among diverse stakeholders.

  • Essential background in Power Generation or Electrical & Distribution industry in maintenance and operations.

  • Electrical or Mechanical Trade or Engineering Qualifications mandatory with High Voltage experience preferred

  • Solid proficiency in numeracy, literacy, and computing.

  • Familiarity with SAP is advantageous, though not mandatory.

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tons of bauxite. 

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management. 

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
