About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance Ancillary you will be responsible for the support of safe execution of maintenance activities for Dozers, Graders, Excavators, and support equipment. In this role demonstrate mining experience and understanding of the mining cycle and services networks will be well regarded, however demonstrated attitude and approach will be key to success in this role. Key responsibilities include:  

  • Performing scheduled and unplanned maintenance and diagnosing and repairing of above equipment;
  • Be first & foremost focused on creating a culture of care, being a visible safety leader, engaging & supporting leader;
  • Maintain a high level working knowledge of safety processes;
  • Overriding commitment to BHP Charter, health, safety, environment and sustainable development;
  • Continue to identify opportunities to improve the performance of people, processes and systems;
  • Improve fleet performance through quality maintenance practices;
  • Oversee safe compliance with operating standards, procedures, work instructions & defined processes to achieve optimal outcomes;

About You

Your success will be heavily influenced by your strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, coupled with your ability to identify and raise issues, find solutions in complex situations, and decision-making abilities. You will have:  

  • Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting (Australian recognised) is preferred;
  • Experience working as a Mechanical Fitter in a mining environment;
  • Have previous Specialist Hydraulics and Lubrication maintenance experience;
  • A current manual drivers licence;
  • Computer literacy and/or experience in 1SAP;
  • Confidence to work across a range of disciplines and levels to foster mutually beneficial and cohesive relationships;
  • Supervisory, project and/or contract management experience is essential;
  • Have solid organisation and prioritisation skills including time management;
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills including time management;
  • Demonstrate managing multiple conflicting priorities and strong decision-making skills to achieve the best outcome for crews and production;

Location

The role is based at Saraji, Dysart, central Queensland as either a residential or DIDO working a 4:3 roster. The Saraji open cut mine is a coal mine located 200 kilometres southwest of Mackay and 60 kilometres southeast of the mining town of Moranbah. The Saraji Coal Mine has coal reserves amounting to 648 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Asia and the world. Coal produced at the Saraji mine is exported to overseas steel makers in India, the Americas, Europe, East Asia and South Asia.
