We are looking for an experienced Coordinator Maintenance Electrical (Supervisor) to join our Bauxite Operations team in Gove, Northern Territory. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) industry experience, advanced fault-finding capability and the confidence to provide specialist technical direction across operational and closure assets.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will provide practical E&I technical support across site, including complex fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance coordination and reliability improvement. Frontline supervision remains an important part of the role, but the primary requirement is proven technical capability developed through substantial industry exposure, formal training and/or relevant certification.

You will work closely with electrical tradespeople, planners, supervisors, engineers and operational stakeholders to resolve equipment issues, support planned and breakdown maintenance, coordinate technical work during shutdowns and improve the performance of electrical and instrumentation assets.

The role is particularly important in supporting aging and legacy electrical and instrumentation systems. Success requires broad hands-on experience, the ability to interpret technical information and drawings, and the practical judgement to diagnose failures where documentation, equipment history or specialist support may be limited.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide specialist E&I technical support across operational and closure assets.
• Lead complex electrical and instrumentation fault-finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting activities.
• Diagnose recurring equipment failures and develop practical corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Interpret electrical schematics, instrumentation drawings, control philosophies, technical manuals and equipment documentation.
• Support the testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis of electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Provide technical input into defect elimination, equipment condition assessments and maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate technical resources and maintenance coverage for breakdowns, planned work and shutdown activities.
• Support job scoping, isolation planning, execution risk reviews and identification of specialist technical requirements.
• Provide field guidance and supervision to ensure electrical work is executed safely and to the required technical standard.
• Retain and apply critical site-specific knowledge of aging and legacy electrical and instrumentation infrastructure.

About you

• Electrical trade qualification with substantial maintenance experience in mining, industrial or heavy industry environments.
• Substantial hands-on E&I experience in mining, industrial, processing or heavy industry environments, gained through formal training, relevant certification and/or demonstrated years of practical industry exposure.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic capability, including experience with industrial power, motor control, protection, instrumentation and control systems.
• Practical experience working with complex, aging or legacy electrical and instrumentation equipment and infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop drawings, P&IDs, control documentation and equipment manuals.
• Experience with breakdown response, planned maintenance, shutdown execution, testing, commissioning and defect elimination.
• Sound understanding of electrical isolations, risk management, statutory requirements and safe work practices.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and coordinate tradespeople during complex maintenance activities.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, field-based approach to troubleshooting and reliability improvement.

Where you'll be working

Our Gove Operations have been supplying the global aluminium industry with world-class bauxite for over 40 years. Located in Australia’s Northern Territory, the operation produces approximately 12 million tonnes of bauxite annually.

With a dedicated workforce of 460 people, our daily activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, shutdown planning and execution, export operations, cultural heritage management, and closure activities following the decision to close the site’s alumina refinery and associated Residue Disposal Area in 2017.

We anticipate that our bauxite mining operations on the Gove Peninsula will cease in 2029, with associated closure and rehabilitation activities continuing into the 2030’s. We are undertaking significant efforts to support the closure of the operation. We also recognize that our operations take place on Indigenous-owned land, and we are committed to working together to achieve a positive future for Nhulunbuy and the Gove Peninsula post-mining.
