About the Role

This role is based within our Mine Production Surface team, who are responsible for the underground backfilling process and surface material movements at Olympic Dam Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent Engineering - Mine Production Surface you will provide Coordination of Quarry Operations, Surface Material Movements, CAF (cemented aggregate fill) delivery and other works within the Mine Production Surface team to meet the mine’s overall backfill and surface material movement targets.

Key accountabilities of the role

  • Coordination, work and communication with key work groups & stakeholders to ensure targets are met.
  • Contractor management (contract supervisor) for mine production surface quarry & haulage support contracts (crushing & equipment dry hire)
  • Engage contractors with relevant (BOS) BHP Operating System practices 
  • Oversees execution of the production schedule for quarry & surface haulage
  • Coordinate and reschedule in consultation with operations
  • Creates production schedule for quarry & surface haulage
  • Contributes to the monthly schedule, and provides expertise and guidance to planning teams in developing the schedule
  • Identify and implement production execution improvement opportunities
  • Delivers fleet optimisation advice to execution supervisors to support delivery of the schedule

About the Role continued accountabilities:

  • Monitor real time production status and allocate resources to execute the daily plan
  • Be responsible for the design and implementation of traffic management plans for CAF in line with road design standards and critical controls
  • Be responsible for haul road changes/ extensions.
  • Drill and blast design advice and approvals 
  • Manages roadworks and maintenance of the mining surface road as per the Olympic Dam Battery Limits document
  • Ensure legislative requirements for the extraction of minerals from the quarry and surrounding areas are met in line with Quarry Manager statutory duties
  • Manage environmental disturbance permits for mine production surface activities
  • Critical control owner for surface vehicle incident risk
  • Plan and execute operations on executed capital projects for mine production surface
  • Area owner for mine production surface (both THA & PTW)  

About You

You will have the following attributes:

  • Proven ability to influence others to drive outcomes and work within a dynamic environment,
  • Ability to operate at multiple levels and across disciplines,
  • Operational experience within open cut mining, quarrying or similar,
  • Quarry Manager’s ticket preferred but not essential.
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way,
  • Supporting a diverse workforce
