Cost Controller - Studies

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Fortescue is currently seeking a Cost Controller to join the Studies team as part of the wider Strategic Planning department. You will bring your knowledge and experience of accounting, reporting, cost control and analysis and in return be offered a rewarding role with plenty of development opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Raise PO’s and Requisition Approval Forms
  • Review invoices/claims against actuals and Terms and Conditions of the contracts
  • Request ad-hoc quotes when required
  • Estimate accruals before End of Month
  • Allocate expenses to cost centres and WBSs
  • Raise Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs)
  • Reporting and analysis of studies costs
  • Enhancing data accuracy across the studies team through validation reports and processes
  • Update and maintain cost control reports

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in accounting, commerce or an equivalent with a minimum of 4 years proven cost control/accounting experience
  • A clear understanding of costing methodologies and budget control
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Excel and SAP
  • Knowledge in Acquire, Ariba and Visualisation tools like Tableau is highly desirable
  • Proven analytical skills and the ability to analyse cost information
  • Able to engage with end users at all levels of the organisation
