About the Role

The Finucane Island Crew Development Officer Role, reporting to The West Yard Senior Area Owner is responsible for supporting the trainer and assessor requirements for all Nelson Point and Finucane Island Port maintenance personnel. Your area of responsibility covers all Finucane Island Maintenance teams and involves the planning, coordinating and delivery of all training packages within your approved accountabilities.

As the Finucane Island Crew Development Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintains the learning management system in line with local and national legislation.
  • Trains and assesses machinery/ equipment operators.
  • Delivers competency-based training for specific equipment and high-risk work licences in alignment with the training scheme.
  • Reviews current programs by comparing skills matrices against training needs analyses/compliance requirements and suggests improvements.
  • Works with Procurement to develop tenders for vendors that provide maximum commercial value and meet organisational requirements.
  • Contributes to the development of vendor and customer contracts, incorporating relevant obligations/requirements.
  • Monitors performance against vendor and customer contract terms/conditions and service standards, triggering intervention as soon as variance is identified.
  • Immediately raises to the relevant authority if goods and services are not procured at the negotiated rates, terms, and conditions.

FIFO or Residential, 5:2/4:3/9:5, 5:2/4:3,5:2

Based in Port Hedland at Finucane Island

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Certificate 4 in Training & Assessment
  • Minimum Certificate 3 in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering – Mech / Elec Trade
  • Experience in the mining or heavy industry sectors is essential
  • Technical knowledge of Fixed Plant Equipment and heavy industry experience
  • Proficiency in organising and coordinating plant maintenance training requirements
  • Working knowledge of project management principles
  • Ability to coach and guide teams through positive operational improvements
  • Strong practical experience in training and assessing
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching workgroups and contractors
  • Working knowledge of computer-based training systems and packages, and extensive knowledge of 1SAP
