About the role

We are looking for a Cultural Heritage Crew Leader to play a key role within the Communities and Social Performance Team to support and deliver on strategic partnership with Traditional Owners, and manage business impacts and risks related to heritage management. The primary purpose of this role is to implement the Cultural Heritage Management program across the lease area. This role is suited to an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is seeking an influential role within a leading organisation. You will be passionate about cultural heritage management and improving the business combined with the ability to show initiative and work autonomously.

Working Monday to Friday (9 Day compressed working week) and reporting to the Heritage Operations Superintendent, Communities & Social Performance, you will:

  • Work to strengthen Traditional owner relationship building through your stakeholder management skills including negotiation and influencing.
  • Be a trusted leader and help to develop team members within the cultural heritage team.
  • Assist with the management and implementation of works programs and operations across Rio Tinto Alcan’s Lease.
  • Monitor and report on allocated operations.
  • Liaise with community, key stakeholders and community groups in a positive and informed manner.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of allocated works programs to agreed standards and timeframes.

  • Snr first Aid Certificate (Desirable)
  • A 'C' class driver’s license
  • Computer literacy, including exposure to Microsoft Word, Excel, GIS and GPS recording technology

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience working with Traditional Owners / Indigenous groups, in relationship management or community engagement capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams in a workforce planning capacity, critical risk management and influencing key decisions.
