About the role:

Due to an internal project we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The Data Engineer will support our data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our data initiatives.

This is an 18 month fixed term position, backfilling for an internal project. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a variety of data sources.
  • Work with various stakeholders including the General Managers, Operational personnel, and technical personnel to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Ensure our data is kept secure in all platforms, both on prem and in the cloud.
  • Maintain documentation of all data related architecture.

About You:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Azure certifications, such as Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Bash, C#, and SQL.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD in Azure.
  • Familiarity with database management systems.
  • Proficiency in Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Proficient in data manipulation, cleansing, and transformation techniques.
  • Experience with cloud data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and distributed computing.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex and unstructured datasets.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Prior experience in data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, or a related field is preferred
