Permanent position based in either Brisbane or Perth
About the role
Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs
We are finding better ways to simplify our operations, expand our capability and improve productivity, to do this we are embarking on an exciting journey that will transition us to a modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform moving from an old, outdated technology (currently RTBS) to a new digitally enabled S/4 Hana and application ecosystem.
An effective RTBS is a key enabler to Best Operator, given 30-60 per cent of our frontline time is spent in the system. To deliver this change we must ensure that we work closely with each of the Product Group’s (PGs) and Functions to modernise how we operate in the system. Consequently, this is not a technology led program, it is business led.
The Data Migration & Archiving Lead oversees and manages the end-to-end process of data migration and archiving (or deletion), including tool selection; ensuring that data is moved efficiently, securely, and without loss or corruption; as well as archival and accessibility of data not subject to migration. This role involves working closely with IS&T, business units, and data management teams to ensure that the data management meets the needs of the organisation and complies with all relevant standards and regulations.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & Analytics ERP Workstream Lead, you will be responsible for:
Project Planning and Management: Develop and manage detailed data migration, archiving and deletion plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk assessments, and contingency strategies. Define the scope of data migration, archiving and deletion projects, including the identification of data sources, the data to be actioned, and the target environment. Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure that data migration and archiving (or deletion) is completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Data Assessment and Mapping: Conduct thorough assessments of source data, identifying data quality issues, inconsistencies, and potential challenges in the migration or archiving process. Develop data mapping strategies to ensure that data is accurately transformed and transferred to the target system.
Technical Execution: Oversee the tool selection and subsequent extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to ensure that data is migrated accurately and securely. Ensure that all necessary data cleansing, validation, and enrichment activities are performed before and during the migration. Ensure archival solution is in place and data not subject to migration is successfully archived and retrievable.
Testing and Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive data migration testing plans, including data validation, reconciliation, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Data Security and Compliance: Ensure that data migration activities comply with relevant data protection regulations and internal security policies, including data retention requirements. Implement measures to protect sensitive data during the migration process, including encryption, access controls, and secure transfer protocols. Maintain detailed records of activities to demonstrate compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and data governance professionals to align efforts with organisational objectives. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior management.
Post-Migration Support and Optimisation: Oversee post-migration validation and support, ensuring that the relevant data is fully operational and meets business needs, including operationalising archiving and lifecycle management. Address any post-migration issues, such as data discrepancies or system performance concerns, and implement corrective actions.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data actions, including data mapping, validation procedures, and testing results.
