About the Role
The role can be based in Brisbane or Perth
The Principal Data Quality Engineer will primarily be responsible for helping BHPs data Owners and Stewards to understand the quality of the data they are responsible for. You will work in collaboration with the Data Strategy and Data Utility teams across BHP to ensure BHPs data assets have adequate data quality processes, checks and standards in place.
The key aspects / responsibilities of this role are:
- Develop and implement data quality standards, processes, and procedures to monitor and maintain data accuracy throughout its lifecycle.
- Assist teams to implement tools and process to perform data profiling and analysis to identify data anomalies, inconsistencies, and issues
- Assist teams to implement tools and process to better collaborate with data owners and data stewards to address and rectify data quality issues
- Drive standardisation and a platform approach to defining and tracking key data quality metrics and KPIs
- Help to define data quality processes and standards
About You
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Proven experience in data quality assurance, data cleansing, and data validation.
- Proficiency in data quality tools and technologies (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Trifacta, etc.).
- Understanding of data catalogue tools (e.g. Collibra)
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analysing data.
- Ideally have knowledge or experience with Python.
- PowerBI (or similar) experience for reporting / dashboards.
- Understanding of Data modelling and the appropriate models to use for different scenarios.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of data management best practices (DMBOK)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CDMP, CIMP, etc.) are a plus.
