Database Geologist

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday (Full time for 38 hours p/week, or job share opportunities for the right candidate)

We are currently seeking a motivated and driven individual to join the Strategic Planning team as a Database Geologist, to be based in our Perth office.

Key responsibilities include:

• Along with other team members, maintain a service help desk to assist a large number of users requiring technical support
• To assist with the implementation of integration workflows between drilling management systems
• Identify and investigate opportunities for process improvement
• Maintain a good working relationship with the systems team and provide ongoing database training and support to end users
• Ensure Geological and Database Management follows best practice and is aligned with industry standards and the JORC code

Qualifications and Experience:

• Highly motivated with strong attention to detail and good communication/collaboration skills
• Ability to provide technical support and work well in a team
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience with a solid understanding of the mining workflow and environment
• Relevant experience working with geological databases with a SQL background including moderate SQL/Python programming skills
• Degree in Geology or Computer Science (or closely related discipline)
• Strong analytical skills to enable quick evaluations and database/interface solutions
