Database Geologist
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday (Full time for 38 hours p/week, or job share opportunities for the right candidate)
We are currently seeking a motivated and driven individual to join the Strategic Planning team as a Database Geologist, to be based in our Perth office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Along with other team members, maintain a service help desk to assist a large number of users requiring technical support
- To assist with the implementation of integration workflows between drilling management systems
- Identify and investigate opportunities for process improvement
- Maintain a good working relationship with the systems team and provide ongoing database training and support to end users
- Ensure Geological and Database Management follows best practice and is aligned with industry standards and the JORC code
Qualifications and Experience:
- Highly motivated with strong attention to detail and good communication/collaboration skills
- Ability to provide technical support and work well in a team
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience with a solid understanding of the mining workflow and environment
- Relevant experience working with geological databases with a SQL background including moderate SQL/Python programming skills
- Degree in Geology or Computer Science (or closely related discipline)
- Strong analytical skills to enable quick evaluations and database/interface solutions
