We’re seeking a motivated Crew Leader who is eager for a new challenge and keen to grow by stepping into the Operational Superintendent role during leave coverage. This is a unique opportunity to expand your leadership capabilities while contributing to the success of our Reduction Line 3 operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Reduction Line 3 Operational Superintendent and working in a collaborative community within the Reduction Line 3 Operations team, you will:
Lead and coach frontline leaders to drive continuous improvement
Execute operational projects and performance system enhancements
Oversee contractor activities within the reduction lines
Champion safety, operational excellence, and team development
What You’ll Bring
A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
Proven leadership experience in a production or crew leader role
Familiarity with Line 3 operations, reduction line processes, basement access, and support teams (highly desirable)
A strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a positive safety culture
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
The ability to plan, organise, and deliver operational projects and improvement initiatives
A collaborative mindset and the ability to coach and support other leaders
Strong literacy, numeracy, and computer skills
SAP proficiency (advantageous but not essential)

Where you will be working
Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL)
Opened in 1982, Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 kilometres southeast of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
