About the Role
Copper is essential for a decarbonising world, and BHP’s Copper South Australia Province is at the forefront of delivering the resources that enable global electrification and growth. We are seeking two experienced Delivery Managers – Underground Construction to join our Major Projects team. These roles will lead the safe and efficient delivery of underground construction for large and complex mining projects, initially based in Adelaide with site visits, and transitioning to site-based during project execution.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight of construction strategies, standards and integration across the lifecycle of our projects. You will manage EPCM and operational interfaces, ensure alignment with BHP’s frameworks, and drive disciplined execution to deliver world-class underground mining infrastructure.
Technical Requirements
- Proven experience in underground construction delivery for large-scale mining projects ensuring systems. processes and plans minimise waste and preserve project value.
- Own and develop the project delivery and execution strategies and plans. Work with EPCM through development & delivery phases, collaborating with functions to ensure a smooth transition to Execution Phase and Operations
- Demonstrated capability in managing the interface between the underground construction workforce and the operational mining workforce
- Strong understanding in EPCM interface management and contractor performance oversight
- Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, and risk management for complex underground works, ensuring tie-ins, testing, start-up and ramp-up activities are planned and executed to minimise Operational impacts.
- Strong leadership across a large multi-discipline construction relating to Health, Safety and Security (HSS), Environment, Employee Relations (ER), Community and project risks.
- Application of best-practice underground mine materials handling and mine infrastructure construction methodologies
- Collaborates with EPCM to ensure resource availability & capability are deployed to deliver the Project objectives
- Proactive stakeholder management (internal and external), ensuring timely communication, voice of the customer and organisational capabilities are integrated throughout execution.
- Strong skillset in driving a culture of continuous improvement
About You
As a successful candidate, you bring deep experience in underground brownfield construction delivery for large-scale mining projects, ideally with exposure to underground crushing and conveying systems and EPCM contract management. Your ability to integrate complex workstreams, manage risk, and build effective relationships with key stakeholders will be critical to success. You are passionate about safety, operational excellence, and building high-performing teams. A strategic and analytical thinker that demonstrates business acumen, with the ability to focus and prioritise critical deliverables to provide timely insights to stakeholders.

Location and Roster
This role will initially be based in Adelaide throughout the Development phase on a 5/2 roster, with transition to site full time (site roster) as the execution works ramp-up.
