An opportunity has opened up for a Mine Rehabilitation and Development Engineer as part of the Mine Development Planning team – which is responsible for development of medium term strategic operations plans >3 months to 60 months. The role is responsible to provide expertise and coordination of all short and medium term (up to two years) mine development, forest clearing and rehabilitation mine plan design. The design process must take into account all HSEC requirements to ensure safe, cost effective and continuous production that meets all quality considerations
Location
Boddington This role is based at the Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour). This is a DIDO position as there is no accommodation on site.
Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night.
Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities are to:
Planning the orderly progression of the mine by ensuring the currency and regular preparation of mine development plans and designs; including optimised clearing and rehabilitation plans. Specifically:
• Rehabilitation landscape design and planning of annual requirements;
- Planning for vegetation harvesting and clearing and associated government approvals and reporting;
- Soil movement planning;
- Monitor and report against key metrics, including clearing and rehabilitation metrics
- Undertake regular field inspections of mine development and rehabilitation operations.
- Support mine access planning, including minor infrastructure, and water management plans.
- Ensure all plans and designs reflect current mining strategies.
- Medium term strategic planning for noise sensitive mining.
- Maintain spatial datasets associated with the role.
- Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation, including that clearing and rehabilitation plans incorporate all legal obligations.
- Support/encourage peers and other team members to build a safety orientated, high performance culture, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
- Manage contractors and consultants as required.
About You
• Diploma/Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Mine Engineering, or related discipline.
• Strong computer skills, specializing in the use of spatial software, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience in the use of planning, spatial and design tools, necessary. Vulcan, ArcGIS desirable.
• Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster alignment and collaboration between multi-disciplinary technical teams as well as external stakeholders.
- Sound report and document writing skills desirable, attention to detail.
- Experience in surface mining operations. Previous mine planning, clearing planning or rehabilitation landform design experience desirable.
• High level of analytical and problem-solving skills.
