Dewatering Operator

Work Location: Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people.

Roster: 7D/7R – FIFO ex Perth or Busselton

Eliwana is Fortescue’s active iron ore mine which include 143km of rail and a 30mtpa dry OPF. The mine has been build using the latest technology, autonomous trucks, and design efficiency.

The Mine service team at Eliwana ensures that mining can operate below the water table and to ensure the site water and power demand has an uninterrupted supply. Mine services department also service and maintain all Fire detection and gaseous suppression system in main buildings, village and OPF Facility.

Reporting to the Supervisor Operations and Mechanical, your role will be to complete the daily maintenance and operational tasks as required. You will be responsible for operation of mine dewatering infrastructure including centrifugal pumps, bore pumps, starter control panels, VSD control panels, motor distribution centres, telemetry, SCADA and PLCs. The dewatering team's responsibility is to ensure that the mine can operate below the water table and the water utilities (Camp, TN, etc) has an uninterrupted water supply.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing daily compliance inspections and report faults
  • Diagnosing basic pumping problems within the system
  • Installing and remove bore pumps
  • Successfully isolate plant, machinery and pipelines
  • Collect data from the field and enter it into databases
  • Install and repair poly pipes using butt, electrofusion and extrusion welding methods

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong experience operating machinery including I.T’s, wheel loaders, excavators, telehandlers, hiabs, trucks, chainsaws and various poly welding machines 
  • Act as certificate holder for high risk work
  • Good understanding of pumping systems and poly piping systems
  • HDPE butt welding, extrusion, electrofusion and chainsaw tickets and experience
  • High Risk Licence - Crane vehicle loading (CV) and Dogging (DG)
  • WAH advantageous
