Director, Investments – North America
Work location: Hybrid, Head Office Tysons Corner, Virginia
Roster: Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage M&A and/or financing transactions (or workstreams within it, depending on transaction type and size) including negotiations and diligence, coordinating with various functions (technical, finance, tax, etc as required)
- Structuring and analytics lead (including managing modelling/analytical support) on project development and offtake arrangements
- Prepare and present investment cases to senior management, ensuring proper reflection in the financial model.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to power and energy investments and project financing and develop strategies for them
- Manage and mentor junior team members
- The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned in support of the overall needs of the business
Qualifications and skills required:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, project finance, or corporate development in the power, infrastructure and/or energy sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or relevant field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully executing M&A and/or complex project financing transactions (preferably including tax equity transactions)
- Flexible and comfortable with complexity and dynamic environments; Demonstrated ability to think strategically, and creatively and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Fluent in legal contracts, regulatory and tax/accounting concepts
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work/lead effectively in flat cross-functional team
- Proven experience managing and developing highly effective and collaborative teams
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, particularly for complex financings and investments; comfortable reviewing/correcting and working with complex financial models and analyses.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to cultivate and maintain a strong network of professional relationships across the industry and sourcing opportunities
- Strong project management skills
