Director, Product Strategy and Sales – North America

Work location: Hybrid, Head Office Tysons Corner, Virginia 

Roster: Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and leverage strategic insights and advance innovative product/platforms and services that decarbonize power and produce hydrogen. 
  • Develop and lead a high performing sales team to achieve revenue and profitability goals along with broader growth objectives.
  • Define and deploy world class processes and tools for sales team to support effectiveness, accountability, and efficiency including, but not limited to: Strategic Selling Process, Sales Funnel Management, Sales Forecasting, and delivery.
  • Establish and execute short- and long-term organic growth strategies to increase market share, value and customer satisfaction. This includes customer expansion, OEM and market-driven innovation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts, priority customers, partners, and the industry at large. Represent the company in a manner that promotes FFI’s reputation as an industry leader in Hydrogen and Renewable products and equipment.
  • Carefully assess the market and competitive landscape for new product, market and application opportunities, and equip and drive the organization to seize these opportunities through both organic and acquisitive means.
  • Regularly review profitability on a product line and customer basis. Work with product management to address issues and execute price increases as warranted.
  • Ensure the successful launch and selling ramp up of new products; play an active role in the new product development process.
  • Responsible for securing and maintaining distribution of products and/or services and maintaining effective agreements and programs. This includes designing and implementing sales policies that comply with FFI’s policies and direction.
  • Attract, develop and retain talented and skilled individuals who bring key skills, knowledge and technical capabilities to the company. Drive the principles of a value selling and performance-based organization in the development, enhancement and reinforcement of the team.
  • Understand and deploy prevailing dynamics in the landscape for distributed energy solutions (power generation, hydrogen, electrolysis, and energy storage, and carbon capture)

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in relevant field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within product strategy, product development, commercialization, technology innovation.
  • Proven track record of producing high quality products/platforms and services within notable organizations.
  • Specific knowledge of and experience in the energy and or industrial product manufacturing sectors. Ideally, significant exposure in renewables (Hydrogen, Solar, Wind, Storage, etc.).
  • Experience managing customer relationships, both current and prospective to demonstrate the Company’s credentials and products/platforms to solve customer problems.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to work across a lean and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success working successfully with suppliers.
  • Specific knowledge of and experience commercializing industrial equipment and solutions to utility, commercial and industrial companies.
  • Experience successfully meeting product/platform sales targets and profitably scaling a business.
  • Proven experience in a senior-level sales/business development position managing teams with  demonstrated success recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent as well as experience building a geographically disbursed team.
  • Strong intellectual and conceptual skills as reflected in an ability to develop business and growth strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and modelling experience.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to present ideas in a clear, concise manner and adapt communication style as needed.
  • Experience in large, global companies and/or demonstrated ability to operate in an entrepreneurial, roll-up-the-sleeves company.
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills through advice, counsel and individual action. Can comfortably operate in an engaging and consultative manner and serve as a trusted sounding board within FFI.
  • Possesses proactive, hands-on approach and is willing to “roll-up sleeves” to make things happen.
