About the Role
We have a Dispatch Specialist Mine Control opportunity currently available at our Mt Arthur Coal Mine on a lifestyle roster of 5/4/4/5 alternative day and night shift.
BHP’s Mt Arthur Coal Mine is based in the beautiful NSW Hunter Valley region. Located less than 5 kilometres from Muswellbrook, we produce high quality, clean energy coal for international and domestic customers.
As a Dispatch Specialist Mine Controller you will play an integral part in site operations team ensuring the effective implementation and execution of mine and operational plans whilst aligning with our charter values, and striving to contribute and continuously improve the performance and outcomes of our business.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for understanding, executing, and communicating short term and long term operational plans and asset performance targets.
- Managing and optimising equipment and labour resources availability and absences whilst delivering day to day operational plans. Proactively allocating tasks, resources, and team members to achieve outcomes.
- Maintaining an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Response and support during safety and fatigue events including management of safe operating behaviours.
About You
The successful candidate will display all of the key capabilities of a successful dispatcher with a commitment to personal and team safety, calm disposition under pressure, an enthusiasm to learn, full of initiative and a drive for performance. Previous control experience or operator experience, within mining or other heavy industries will be highly regarded. You will have the capacity and ability to work 12.5hr rostered shift work patterns involving nightshift and weekend work.
- Current or recent experience working in Mine Control or Fleet Management as a dispatcher or mine controller is essential.
- Mining knowledge and experience working in a Mining Operation, or experience controlling using a Modular mining system.
- Safety focused with a sound knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory regulations and organisational requirements.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure using your skills in prioritisation and problem solving with the ability to work across a diverse work group;
- Strong sense of urgency and ability to multi-task along with the ability to work autonomously whilst also working collaboratively with your team to achieve desired outcomes;
- You are highly motivated, technology savvy, a great communicator with the ability to utilise your negotiation skills in order to influence others and achieve desired outcomes;
