Drill and Blast and Control Room Entry Program

Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 8D6R (8 days 6 rest), FIFO ex Perth or Port Hedland

The Opportunity:

Iron Bridge are launching a new opportunity across our Mining Operations, featuring a rotation in  Drill and Blast and Control Room, for those eager to advance into Mining Automation.

You’ll be supported and motivated by our team of leaders to ensure you are set up for success to develop the following technical skills for a lasting career in Mining with Iron Bridge.  

Six month rotation in Drill and Blast on an 8 days 6 rest roster.

  • Mark out, prime, load, stem, tie blast patterns, blast guard duties
  • Assist the Shotfirer to achieve targets
  • Operate ancillary equipment (stemming loader, watercart, drill rigs)

Six month rotation as a Drill Control Trainee on an 8 days 6 rest 7 nights 7 rest roster.

  • Safe and productive use of the autonomous drilling system
  • Pattern planning and sequencing
  • Manage drill areas
  • Maintain positive communication with key stakeholders

Iron Bridge will provide you with the onsite exposure and training to gain a foundational understanding of mining practices, required training and experience across Drill and Blast and Control.

Successful completion of the rotations and program will lead to a permanent Drill Control position on an 8 days 6 rest 7 nights 7 rest roster.

You are resilient. Being a Drill Controller can be challenging. Due to the dynamic nature of mining, you may encounter roadblocks to efficiently manage your fleet. You need to be able to bounce back and find opportunities to overcome those hurdles to drive productivity.
