Moolarben mine is part of the Yancoal Australia group of thermal and metallurgical coal assets across NSW and Queensland.  Yancoal currently employs over 3,000 people across its operations which provides fantastic opportunities at Moolarben mine for growth, learning and promotion between roles at site and between mining operations in the Yancoal Group.

About the Role

We are seeking a Drill and Blast Engineer to join our dynamic team. Moolarben mine is currently in an exciting phase growing to deliver up to mine 16Mt of coal per year from 2023.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the key role responsibilities include:

• Complete drill and blast designs effectively to achieve safe, optimal drill and blasting activities and blasting performance. 
• Produce accurate and timely Weekly schedules, monthly forecasts and reporting information.
• Daily monitoring of performance and compliance against plan, working closely with the Production team.

About You

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Civil, Geology, Survey)
• Demonstrated experience in an open pit mining environment (Coal or other) with engineering exposure – preferably Drill and Blast
• Experience in mine design and scheduling software preferably Vulcan and Blast Logic
• Experience in Microsoft products (Excel spreadsheets/databases)
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively
• The motivation and ability to; be positive, be curious, learn, listen, contribute to a ‘one team’ work culture, take on challenges and deliver work to the standard and deadlines required.
