About the role 

Rio Tinto will be back in town next month to conduct assessment centres with people who are interested in career opportunities flying directly from Busselton so they can remain living in the beautiful South West Region while having a fantastic career which offers a great work life balance, development and growth and friendly and supportive team environment.

We’re proud to support all of the regional communities that we operate in and the communities where many of our employees live. We recently said ‘Happy Anniversary to 15 years’ of flying directly from Busselton Airport to our Pilbara Operations. This means thousands of people can remain in their local communities, while still being able to have a career in the mining industry.

We are looking for candidates who have experience in mining or another heavy industry to join our operations and maintenance teams at our sites across the Pilbara. Whether you’re new to your profession or experienced in your field, and whatever industry you have exposure to, we have opportunities that will provide interesting work and growth opportunities for everyone.

You’ll be part of a friendly team, supported by your Supervisor to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll be on a 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. You can commute to site directly from Busselton so you can grow your career while continuing to enjoy the lifestyle you choose.

You’ll stay on site for the duration of your roster with your own room equipped with TV and ensuite, the mess offers extensive menu options to suit most dietary requirements and there a wide range of activities to keep you entertained after your shift such as group gym classes, yoga and swimming pool.

In the Drill and Blast division, you will be working alongside blast crew, drill operators and shotfirers in a supportive team environment whilst contributing to daily targets. You will also demonstrate daily safety commitments.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience working in an Operations or Maintenance role in mining or another heavy industry
