About the role

Working as a Drill and Blast Engineer within the Mine Technical Services Team in Perth you’ll be presented with an industry unique position. Here you’ll have the opportunity to complete drill designs for manual and autonomous drilling operations and be exposed to 3 industry leading electronic blasting systems spread across our many Pilbara Mines. 

You’ll be embedded as part of a supportive team of Drill and Blast Engineers, led by your Supervisor/ Manager to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. Your Perth based work roster will be 8 days on, 6 days off  which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.   

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating effective drill patterns, electronic initiation and charging designs
  • Exploring new ways to increase drill and blast productivity
  • Reviewing blast performance data as part of post blast analysis improvement cycle

You will be a safety role model, engage with a variety of stakeholders, champion continuous improvement projects and provide training and mentoring to junior staff.

What you’ll bring   

  • Tertiary qualification in an Engineering related degree (Mining Engineering is preferred) 
  • Demonstrated drill and blast experience gained within a large scale, open pit iron ore mining environment.
  • Proficient skills in using mining software such as Vulcan and Blast design software
  • A current C Class driver’s licence is essential

It will also be advantageous if you have:

  • Prior drill and blast design experience along with wall control and vibration modelling experience

Where you will be working

This role is based in Perth at our Central Park building on an 8/6 roster with some travel to operating sites as required.
