About the Role

The Drill & Blast Supervisor coordinates the drilling and blasting activities at Yarrabee Coal Mine. They coordinate the effective operation of plant and personnel within the blasting and drilling crews in consultation with the Mine Support Services Superintendent. As a direct report to the Mine Support Services Superintendent, you will also be required to provide support with Pit Dewatering and any other Mining Projects.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will posses the following: Skills

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Able to effectively lead, manage and coach an efficient team.
  • Highly developed skills pertaining to mining software packages and engineering practices.
  • Understanding of information management processes.
  • Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues.
  • Well-developed Microsoft office skills.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Sound understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated Explosive regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of blasting principles and practices relating to drill and blast operations.
  • Previous experience in providing leadership to effect project and operational success in an Open Cut Mining Environment.
  • Experienced in the provision of drilling and blasting activities within an Open Cut Mining environment.
  • Experienced in maintaining communication across a number of departments.

Qualifications

  • Shotfirer Qualification (mandatory).
  • Current Open Driver’s Licence (mandatory).
  • Current Supervisor Competencies (S1, S2 & S3).
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • RIIRIS3O1A – Apply Risk Management Processes.
  • RIIOHS3O1A - Conduct Safety & Health Investigations.
  • RIICOM301 - Communicate Information.
  • RIIRIS402A - Implement & Maintain the Risk Management Process.
