About the team

 BHP’s Value Engineering group was established to identify, maximise and implement value-adding capability and performance improvement opportunities across the value chain of BHP’s assets.

We are a collaborative team of simulation specialists, engineers, data analysts and data scientists who combine these skill areas to analyse the end to end value chain of BHP’s assets, to identify, evaluate and recommend opportunities to lift asset capability and performance in the short, medium and long term. You will be part of this global team, reporting to the Manager System Dynamics and working alongside value engineering leads, principals and specialists, using the data and drawing on the knowledge of operations and business subject matter experts linked with BHPs assets to design and track the effectiveness of improvement recommendations. 

About the Role

We are looking for a technical professional to join our Value Engineering team. 

  • Lead and monitor the development of best practice simulation skills, standards and culture within your team;
  • Uncover improvement opportunities for short, medium and long term time frames across the value chain of BHP’s assets - use simulation to provide insights to guide decision making;
  • Define purpose, context and success measures with operations and stakeholders - scope and plan modelling approach and level of detail to produce fit-for-purpose dynamic models;
  • Plan resources, priorities and contingency requirements for delivery of dynamic simulation results.

This role is based in our Brisbane office and supported by the latest technology to engage with our sites around the Australia and the globe.  The role offers a full-time permanent opportunity working Monday to Friday. Some travel may be required. Flexible working options are available.

About You

We are ideally seeking candidates who can demonstrate some of the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Applied Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or analytics-related discipline;
  • Experience defining and programming discrete-event dynamic simulation models.
  • Skills ready to supervise and develop other technical professionals;
  • Ability to communicate dynamic simulation approach and outcomes to stakeholders;
  • Experience in operations improvement ideation, development and evaluation – exploring ideas that may have benefits for the operation;
  • Practical experience in one or more of mining, minerals processing or resource industries, which may include experience in operations or consulting in these industries.
