About the role

We are looking for an Advisor Rehabilitation for a ground-breaking closure project where you will play a part in the co-ordination and execution of key rehabilitation programs, making a true impact to the successful rehabilitation and positive legacy of Jabiru.

Reporting to the Specialist Rehabilitation & Ecology and working a nine day fortnight you will:

• Perform terrestrial ecological surveys, including flora, fauna and biophysical measurements.
• Contribute to data analysis and report project outcomes at internal and external stakeholder meetings, into technical reports and more broadly across the Business.
• Support collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, traditional owners.
• Oversee the successful and sustainable seed collection program, including maintaining stock inventories and future demand requirements.
• Assist with the development of strategically focused research and technical projects including post-mining rehabilitation methods, completion criteria monitoring, seed utilisation, and flora and fauna monitoring
• Engage frequently with external government stakeholders, Traditional Owner groups and not-for-profit organisations.

What you will bring

• Qualifications in environmental science, ecology, botany, soil science, agricultural science or related discipline
• Experience leading research projects and monitoring programs
• Previous experience in managing multiple contractors and consultants in regards to environmental studies
• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team 
• A passion for frequently working outdoors
• Quality report writing skills (technical and plain-English)
• Driver’s licence

It will also be beneficial if you have:

• Experience using GIS systems
• Knowledge and experience using data analytical and statistical tools
• Experience working in northern Australian savannah
• Experience in fauna monitoring and assessments

Where you will be working 

Energy Resources of Australia Ltd (ERA) is a publicly listed company with Rio Tinto its major shareholder. ERA has mined and produced uranium oxide from its Ranger mine in the beautiful and rugged Alligator Rivers area of the Northern Territory since 1980. The Ranger mine is located on Aboriginal land, and is surrounded by, but separate from Kakadu National Park.

Mining at Ranger ceased in November 2012 and since then, Ranger has been processing ore from stockpiles.

The role is either Darwin based on a Bus in Bus out arrangement between Ranger Mine and Darwin, or locally based residential in Jabiru. Subsidised housing arrangements for Jabiru residents will be included.
