Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is one of the largest open pit operations in the area. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both draglines and load haul systems as the current and preferred mining method. Our site operates continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week and has a long and proud history, employing approximately 1350 people from local and surrounding communities, who are our most valuable asset.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking experienced Electric Rope Shovel Operators to join our mining team. Reporting to the Mining Supervisor you will be responsible for the safe and productive operation of Shovels on your allocated crew. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in open pit mining operations and have the ability to meet the safe and productive standards expected by Yancoal. The successful candidates will be working the 4-panel rotating roster.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in the operation of P&H Rope Shovels, Dozers, Cable Handling Equipment and Rubber Tyred Dozers in an open cut coal mining environment;
- A proven track record with regard to safe and productive operating practices including operating for reliability;
- A proven track record with regard to safe and productive operating practices;
- Ability to meet the requirements of this role with regard to working outside;
- A positive and proactive attitude;
- Current NSW Manual Driver’s licence.
