We are looking for an Electrical Coordinator to help lead a maintenance team to ensure safety, people and production targets are met.

Rio Tinto Weipa is located 900km north-west of Cairns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and has been operating for over 50 years. The Amrun Mine Site is located 40 kilometers south west of Weipa with a life expectancy of 40 plus years to expand our bauxite operations and continue production from one of the world’s premier bauxite deposits. This expansion will strengthen the economy and provide exciting opportunities for the people of Cape York and Queensland for future generations.
Reporting to the Fixed Plant Electrical Supervisor and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Fixed Plant maintenance team, you will:
- Support a team of tradespersons (both mechanical and electrical) with their day-to-day operations;
- Providing visible leadership and driving the safety culture;
- Continually developing and upskilling team members;
- Leading by example, communicating effectively, and ensuring values of the business are adhered to.
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Relevant Trade Qualifications
- Prior experience in mining and maintenance of fixed plant equipment
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Ability to work with and lead a diverse workforce
- Established prioritisation and time management skills
- Knowledge of the SAP system
- A ‘C’ class manual drivers license
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Previous operational leadership experience
- Computer literacy, including exposure to Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and SAP
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment
- Exposure to other aspects of the fixed plant process (e.g. ship loading, On the Job Training, control room operations, etc.)
