ABOUT THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to maintain the integrity of the Worsley Alumina Blueprint by providing specialised electrical power and instrumentation engineering technical expertise to the Operation and managing modifications and project tasks in accordance with relevant processes, standards and performance targets for HSEC, quality and cost.
This role will report to Superintendent Electrical Maintenance Analysis & Improvement and is offered on a permanent basis.
This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes – bus available from Bunbury location only) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.
key responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Primary responsibilities are to:
- Develop and maintain asset management plans for critical electrical and instrumentation equipment across the entire South32 Worsley Alumina operation
- Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering expertise and consultative support for the Operation and ensure:
- Review and action of engineering change management requests associated with modifications and projects.
- Provision of relevant technical knowledge and input for the development of projects.
- Provision of relevant technical knowledge and support to the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement and Process Technical teams.
- Any Engineering services provided to the Operation meet relevant standards and are aligned to designed/agreed operating principles.
ABOUT YOU
- Understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation in the context of a process plant
- A good appreciation of functional safety
- A strong understanding of electrical isolation practice
- Experience in Project engineering & Plant commissioning activities
- Experience in building asset management plans and performing failure analysis.
- Asset management of Industrial power and control equipment, VSDs/motors, UPS/Battery charger, Distribution equipment & Plant instrumentation.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with ideally 3 to 5 years’ proven experience within Mining/Process industry.
- Eligible for Chartered Membership of Engineers Australia.
