Work Location: Perth Office – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people

 

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

 

The Electrical Engineer provides electrical engineering and power system analysis support to the Electrical Infrastructure Mine Planning team, with a primary focus on PowerFactory modelling of electrical infrastructure associated with mine sites being planned and constructed.

 

 

The role requires practical experience with PowerFactory analysis and an understanding of PowerFactory scripting features to support the import of planning and optimisation data from systems such as Blueprint and the export of modelling results for storage in Snowflake.

 

 

The role will also support ad hoc modelling activities, HV submission preparation, pit power and charger construction scoping, and the development and improvement of electrical infrastructure planning tools and workflows.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support PowerFactory power system analysis for electrical infrastructure associated with mine planning and construction activities
  • Develop, maintain and use PowerFactory scripts to import data from mine planning and optimisation systems, including Blueprint
  • Export PowerFactory modelling outputs in agreed formats for storage and use in Snowflake and related systems
  • Collect, validate and organise data required for electrical modelling and planning activities
  • Support the preparation of HV submissions on an as-required basis
  • Use Vulcan, GIS and Anvil to support pit power and charger construction scoping and documentation activities
  • Prepare and maintain Land Use Certificates, Clearing Summaries, Infrastructure Files and the Monthly Site Anvil Release
  • Support the maintenance, development and improvement of electrical infrastructure planning tools and workflows
  • Contribute electrical engineering expertise to broader mine planning activities, ensuring electrical constraints and infrastructure requirements are appropriately represented
  • Provide electrical engineering and subject matter expert support to projects and maintain accurate, traceable and appropriately version-controlled modelling inputs, outputs and supporting documentation.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least one year of experience undertaking power system analysis using DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • At least one year of experience preparing HV submissions
  • Understanding of PowerFactory scripting and data exchange capabilities
  • Experience working with electrical infrastructure planning, mine planning or optimisation systems
  • Experience collecting and preparing data for ad hoc modelling activities
  • Experience providing electrical subject matter expert support to electrical projects
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Fortescue experience is advantageous.
