Title: Electrical Engineer – Green Fleet Development
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer Green Fleet Development, we are presently looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer
Key accountabilities will include:
- Design and deliver Electrical systems for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Green Fleet Development projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
- Design review and validation of various engineering designs and associated components
- Resolution of technical and design issues
- Selecting components which is suitable for the application / project
- Capable of prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
- Providing technical guidance on all Electrical Engineering Systems related works being carried out
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Develop technical specifications to meet project specific objectives
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes
- Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners
- Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects
- Providing regular updates to the Principal Electrical Engineer including work progress, risks, and priorities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering degree,
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Heavy Mobile Equipment Electrical Drive System Engineering
- Experience with heavy mobile equipment Inverter systems
- Experience in Power Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Experience with operation of inverters, chargers and VSD
- Experience with automotive industry comms protocols, such as CAN bus and J1939
- Experience in designing high voltage DC power systems with electrical noise filtration is advantageous
- Experience with Functional Safety principle and familiar with Functional Safety standard and compliance
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
- High commitment to safety
- Experience with SAP work management
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
- Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
- Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible and accountable
- Skilled in rapid problem solving
