About the Role

The primary purpose of the Electrical Engineer within the Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team is to govern the blueprint by evaluating and auditing proposed changes against technical standards and provide technical assistance to site operations and engineering projects on electrical assets. This is a full-time role based at Newman on a FIFO 5/2,4/3 roster, offering flexibility with one week onsite and one week in Perth. Reporting to Superintendent GTS, your key responsibilities include:  

  • Provide electrical guidance and technical support to the Engineering, Project Managers and Maintenance.
  • Review, update and approve the complete set of electrical technical documentation (International, National and site engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures, programs, and drawings) from which the plant is designed, constructed, operated, and maintained.
  • Develop and coordinate electrical technical audits to ensure the assets comply to WA legislations and BHP technical specifications.
  • Create and distribute electrical safety and improvements alerts to the WAIO stakeholders.
  • Continuous improvement of the electrical assets in collaboration with site and vendor.
  • Review and/or develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, resource requirements and quality criteria.
  • Facilitate business cases, contracting and execution strategies.
  • Support project managers in preparation of capital budget approvals.

About You

You will have a degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in engineering design and technical report writing. Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships across various teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude. Skills and Experience Requirements:  

  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Good understanding of various Australian Standards, WA Regulations, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously on multiple simultaneous tasks.
