Operations near and far
Located in the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara Region of WA, Telfer is a short two-hour flight form Perth. Working as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) operation, comprising of open pit and underground, you’ll be working an 8 days on, 6 days off lifestyle. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
Who we are looking for
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Engineering team at our Telfer opencut and underground mines operations. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth.
This role will see you working within the team responsible for electrical engineering asset management, governance and managing projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support execution of the site electrical engineering strategic plan, including carrying out analysis and development of asset management plans and implementing key improvement initiatives
- Provide electrical engineering support to maintenance crews. This includes electrical engineering reliability support during breakdowns and maintaining statutory electrical dossier.
- Provide technical support, guidance and coaching to site personnel on matters related to reliability, engineering, safety, statutory compliance and technical matters
- Undertake minor electrical engineering projects. Provide input to the capital projects process, such as developing capital request submissions for electrical projects, review specification and site suitability of the electrical design
- Actively support safety improvement initiatives and demonstrate safety leadership across site
You will be a self-motivated and technically capable Electrical Engineer with highly developed stakeholder management skills.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- Degree qualified Electrical Engineer, eligible for professional Electrical Engineer membership with Engineers Australia.
- A minimum 7-10 year demonstrated experience in the Mining Industry or heavy industry
- Manual Drivers Licence
- Able to work independently
- Strong communication skills
- EEHA certification advantageous.
- Good experience of LV & HV motors and VSDs
- Good experience of LV & HV switchgears and protection systems, experience in ABB and Multilin protection relay advantageous
- Good experience with overhead HV Transmission and Distribution system, reclosers, RMUs, fuse savers, transformers and diesel generators.
- Sound experience of Winders and Shaft
- Good understanding of PLC (ABB and Allen Bradley preferred)
- Sound experience with electrical network modelling software (ETAP preferred).
- Good working knowledge of AS3000 and AS3008.
- Well conversant with all the applicable WA statutory codes and regulation.
