Electrical Instrumentation Technician 

Location: Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling Facility (CHF) Port Hedland - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge CHF project is located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people. 

Roster: 8D6R7N7R FIFO Ex Perth

Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. The CHF, located in Port Hedland, receives Magnetite via pipeline from the Ironbridge OPF, located 145km by road south of Port Hedland. The mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation. 

Key accountabilities will include:

  • The Fixed Plant Electrical Instrumentation technician role reports directly to the CHF Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and improving electrical instrumentation equipment to safely deliver world class availability and reliability
  • This role will also include but not be limited to managing plant maintenance functions in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, enabling the Fixed Plant Operations to meet the present and future needs of operational requirements; and managing the plant maintenance activities with a continuous improvement and reliability philosophy

 Qualifications and skills required:

  • Electrical Instrumentation Cert IV Trade Qualification
  • Current WA Electrician's License
  • Previous electrical instrumentation maintenance experience: Diagnostics and calibration of numerous 4-20mA loop powered instruments
  • Exposure to PCS communication protocols such as Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, Devicenet and Profinet systems
  • Exposure to PLC and SCADA systems including proficiency in diagnostics and fault finding
  • High Voltage Switching Certificate
  • Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems
  • Current High Risk Work License endorsed – EWP, Telehandler
  • Experience in computer-based maintenance systems – SAP desirable
  • Strong commitment to health and safety and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills via 2-way radio
